OLVEA vous souhaite une Bonne Année 2018 !
The coastral fishing improvement and promotion project in Mauritania was set up early august by the Mauritanian private sector and the OLVEA Group. The President of the Republic of Mauritania, Mohamed Ould Ould Abdel Aziz, calls for a more sustainable and responsible management of the fishery sector.
This project, which is part of the objectives of the national strategy, was set up in order to exploit the fisheries’ resources on a sustainable basis; on one hand, by rationalizing and standardizing the fishing quotas at a global level, and on the other hand, by identifying the priorities to be considered for a development respecting the standards in force.

The Sustainable Fisheries Partnership has announced the beggining of a new Fishery Improvement Project (FIP) for small pelagic fisheries in Mauritania. Together, international fishing sector stakeholders, fishmeals and fish oils buyers, exporters and processors, in collaboration with the Mauritanian fishery authority, signed a memorandum, marking the FIP’s official beginning.
As a major actor in fish oils and fish meals, we, at OLVEA Fish Oils, take responsible sourcing seriously, as we are continuously promoting sustainable fishing. For this reason, we have decided to take part in this global approach, with other stakeholders such as le Ministère de Pêches et de l’Economie Maritime (MPEM), la Fédération de Recherche Océanographique et des Pêches (IMROP), l’Office Nationale d’Inspection Sanitaire des Produits de la Pêche et de l’Aquaculture (ONISPA), and Rim Fish Meal.
In order to carry out this mission, a fishery assessment will be established to identify gaps to the IFFO RS standards and workshops have been planned to identify improvement actions. This commitment will eventually allow us to apply and obtain new certifications (such as the Marine Stewardship Council).
Following the closure of the IFIS standard initiated by the certification bodies’s members of the IFSA (International Feed Safety Alliance), OLVEA Fish Oils has decided to certify its quality system according to the standard GMP+ Safety Assurance, applicable to its sites based in Normandy.
GMP+ Feed Safety Assurance is a complete module for the assurance of feed safety in all the links of the feed chain.. Multiple components have been integrated into the GMP+ FSA module, such as requirements for the quality management system (ISO 9001), HACCP, product standards, traceability, monitoring, prerequisites programmes, chain approach and the Early Warning System.
Since February 2016, OLVEA Fish oils has been certified GMP+ FSA thanks to the involvement of all its teams.
We are pleased to announce that the Friend of the Sea certification of OLVEA Fish Oils, obtained in April 2011, has been renewed on the 6th of October 2014. This certification attests that the fish oil of OLVEA Fish Oils is coming from sustainable fishing.
In the production of our Omega-3 fish oils, we use fishes from certified supply chains, in compliance with the European Regulations. Those fishes are caught by Friend of the Sea-approved purse seiners, with no impact to the seabed. We have a rigorous sustainability management policy in place. We source our fish oils in geographical zones where the fish stocks have been monitored and assessed by the FAO (Food and Agricultural Organisation of the United Nations) as sustainable.
Our supply chain is closely monitored from the purchase order to the final destination using HACCP methods to provide sanitary and safety insurance to our customers.
Since the 1st of January 2013, the SIRH Group decided to harmonize its companies around a common visual identity and name « OLVEA ».
From now on, Winterisation Europe becomes OLVEA Fish Oils, and Winterisation Atlantic becomes OLVEA Atlantic.
